Knit Top
This is one project of mine where I took an already existing garment, in this case the top that one can see in my before sketch, and redesign it by only using the fabric from the original garment.
2011
I designed an made this figure skating dress. The skirt unwraps and reveal different phases of my dress
as I skated my program to “Through Heaven’s Eyes” form the Prince of Egypt sound track.
2010
Stretch knit and mesh fabric, sequence
I was skating to the soundtrack from Star Wars and designed my dress based off of one of Princess Leia’s costumes. I then had the challenge of making my design be more modest than the original due to the fact that I was performing in a family friendly show.
2011
This is my prom dress that I designed and made.
Hard Maple frame, general upholstery material
Height 40”, width 50”, depth 20”
Junior year of high school, 2010
I came up with this original design inspired by different Victorian styled
benches and then made adjustments to the dimensions in my final piece.
I received first place and the teachers award at the regional level at the
Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society and then received
Honorable Mention at the state level.
