For a class project, I was required to make a little black dress. I wanted to add a little bit of color yet still make it a sophisticated design which is why I incorporated sequenced ivory lace.

I designed and made this dress out of left over stretch lace and knit fabric I had from a skating dress project.

This was a class project where I was required to use untraditional material to create a piece. I was inspired by my parent’s farm, which I grew up on, specifically the landscape where the field comes into union with the forest. I decided to use grain sacks as the base of the gown because grain is a byproduct of the field. I also died sawdust and used it as sequence to represent a product of the forest. The field and forest unity is also represented in the shape of the gown with the fullness verses flatness in the skirt and bodice. 2012
